The earthy Eribé Alpine Sweater Taurus radiates balance and depth. The light, creamy base recalls limestone and winter light, while shades of denim blue, steel grey and copper brown enrich the design with subtle tension. It is a colour palette that does not shout, but speaks with conviction.
The Alpine Fair Isle pattern around the neckline unfolds like a refined horizon line. The carefully built layers of colour add rhythm and movement without losing the calm character. The tones return in the hem and cuffs, visually anchoring the design.
The cut is classic yet modern in proportion, allowing the sweater to fall elegantly while maintaining a relaxed appearance. Perfect for those who appreciate understated contrasts and natural harmony.
Crafted from 96% merino wool and 4% angora wool, the sweater feels soft and luxurious. Merino wool ensures breathable comfort and temperature regulation, while angora wool adds fine softness and a gentle sheen. The ribbed trims provide structure and a neat finish.
Taurus refers to steadiness and reliability. This sweater translates that feeling into a design that expresses quiet confidence – warm, balanced and with a silent, enduring strength.
* The angora wool comes from angora rabbits that are combed by hand. This painless method prevents the coat from matting and keeps the rabbit healthy.
The story behind the Eribé Alpine Sweater
In the misty hills of the Scottish Borders, where sheep wander freely across the fields and the morning light softens to a gentle pink over the valleys, there is a small studio that has thrived on colour, wool, and tradition for nearly forty years. There, surrounded by sketchbooks and yarn shades inspired by the Scottish landscape, works Rosemary Eribé – the woman who introduced the world to the iconic Alpine Sweater.
Rosemary began as a young designer with one simple goal: to let the centuries-old Fair Isle knitting tradition shine again. Not as a museum piece, but as a modern, wearable work of art that would warm people across the globe. She wanted fresh colours, new combinations, playfulness – something that reflects the joyful spirit of Scotland.
On a cold winter’s day, inspired by the sunset over the Isle of Skye, she sketched the first ideas for what would become the Alpine Sweater. She drew lines, created tiny motifs, and placed colours side by side as if painting with wool. The Alpine had to be different: lighter, softer, more refined – and infused with that unmistakable Eribé cheerfulness.
The result was a sweater that feels like a warm hug from Scotland. With Fair Isle patterns dancing across the shoulders and sleeves, a playful colour palette found nowhere else, and a fit that flatters absolutely everyone.
